No.40 Use of Magnification Reader Aid for Visually-Impaired Persons and the Improvement Needs - Report of "Study on Workplace Improvement with Regard to Persons with Severe Visual Impairment - (October 2000): Japanese Link; The report conducted a survey on the usage of magnification reader aid, which is the most important technical aid device for persons with severe visual impairment, and summarized the usage situation and issues.

No.39 Study on the Nonverbal Communication Skill of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities - Development of the Test of Emotion Recognition by Facial and/or Voice Expressions and the Program of Decoding Facial Expressions - (September 2000): Japanese Link; The study develops "the Test of Emotion Recognition by Facial and/or Voice Expressions", to investigate the feature of nonverbal communication in intellectually disabled persons. It also selected some subjects who were acknowledged with having difficulty in decoding facial expressions but there is the possibility of improvement in training, and developed and reviewed the effect of "the Program of Decoding Facial Expressions with an aim of improving their nonverbal communication skills.

No.38 Study on the Issues for Career Guidance of Persons with so-called "Learning Disability" (No.1) - Based on Case Who were in Vocational Rehabilitation Service - (March 2000): Japanese Link; The study organizes the issues on the latest definition of "learning disability" and reviews the trait by disability. It also explains effective evaluations for understanding trait by disability, summarizing issues on discussion over the "learning disability" in adolescence, as well as reviewing issues for assistance for their suitable employment based on cases study.

No.37 Study on the Development of an Occupational Search System that Keeps up with the Diversification of Disabilities - No.3 - (Final Report) (March 2000): Japanese Link; This is the final report on a special research "Study on the Development of an Occupational Search System that Keeps up with the Diversification of Disabilities.", in succession to No.13 and 27. Summarizing 5-years of activities, the volume gives clear images of the overall system developed and the roles and functions of each subsystem, as well as mentioning future development as a summary of the empirical review.

No.36 Study on the Nurturing of Occupational Safety Awareness of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (March 2000): Japanese Link; Many intellectually disabled persons are working in the manufacturing industry where industrial injury have been observed in relatively large numbers. The study organizes the general knowledge about occupational safety and the concept of education on occupational safety as well as investigating matters considered for safety at worksites where disabled persons are working and the content of education on occupational safety that have been provided at schools for children with intellectual disabilities, etc. Based on these, the study reviews specific content of education on occupational safety to propose the "Manual of Education on Occupational safety for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities".

No.35 Study on the Utilization of the Internet for the Promotion of Employing Persons with Disabilities, mainly of Home-based Workers (February 1999): Japanese Link; The utilization of the Internet is attracting attention for promoting employment of disabled persons, showing various possible directions. This study verifies the current status of and issues on an information provider/exchanger system related to home-based work, home-based training programs, and jobs for disabled persons.

No.34 Issues on Guidance for the Persons with Intellectual Disabilities to Get a Job and Job Accommodation - Through Comparison of Opinions from Employer, School Teacher, and Their Parents - (January 1999): Japanese Link; For the purpose of clarifying issues for supporting smooth transitions from school to work life, the study conducts a questionnaire survey that asks what seem to be important issues for intellectually disabled children to adopt themselves into work life, with an aim to compare the answers from employer, teacher, and their parents. It was notable that teachers and parents tend to evaluate items, especially as to items that directly relate to work more important than employers.

No.33 Study on the Issues Concerning Work Life Design Support for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities from a Viewpoint of their Occupational Career - Targeting Graduates of School for Mentally or Physically Disabled Children - (January 1999): Japanese Link; With an aim of discussing the framework to understand occupational careers of intellectually-disabled persons and the issues for supporting their work life design, the study conducts an interview survey targeting graduates of schools for children with disabilities, and through their cases, it organizes and reviews the importance and limit of family support toward their independence, the timing of transition to work life and the content of support, and the aspects of support for the subjects economic independence.

No.32 Study on the Training Techniques in the Program of Vocational Course for Persons with Higher Brain Dysfunction (December 1998): Japanese Link; The study deals with higher brain dysfunction with a focus on the training techniques in the field of vocational rehabilitation. At first, it cites earlier studies acknowledged by literature survey, and then applies training techniques such as the use of "memory notebook", customization of an original book stand, and applications of PC software, all of which showed some positive results. It also points out that a broad range of symptoms including behavior and self-recognition as well as indicating issues should be covered in planning of vocational rehabilitation of persons with higher brain dysfunction, such as reviews of group training and a method for assistance within a worksite.

No.31 A Survey Report on the Age-associated Changes of Vocational Capabilities of Persons with Various Disabilities - Report No.1 of an Empirical Study of the Changes of Age-associated Vocational Capabilities of Persons with Disabilities and the Countermeasures - (November 1998): Japanese Link; This is the first volume of a series of reports from the project that reviews changes of vocational capability of aging persons with intellectual disability, ideal employment and health managements at respective age levels in order to maintain healthy life appropriate for insuring their performance ability, and necessary measures including supports and aids. This report compiles the results of field surveys of the aging issues of persons with various disabilities from both sides of employers and employees.

No.30 Current Status of Employment of Persons with Chronic Disease including Intractable Diseases and Issues on Work Supports (August 1998): Japanese Link; The report studies vocational difficulties of persons with so-called intractable diseases and/or chronic diseases and possible measures for them. Computer simulations using database of disease characteristics and job requirements, and results of a survey on the actual employment situations, are presented.

No.29 The Effect of Social Adjustment Training for Persons with Mental Disabilities and the Prediction toward the Consequence of Treatment (August 1998): Japanese Link; The method for evaluating the characteristics of persons with mental disabilities will be a key for their smooth transition from the medical and health care stage to the vocational rehabilitation stage. In this document, the characteristics are measured by each aspect such as psychiatric symptom, social adjustment, and vocational capability. etc., end the results, at the time of starting the social rehabilitation program and that at the time of completion are compared in detail, in order to clarify the factors that have effects on their future work and home return, etc.

No.28 Employment Situations of Persons with Disabilities and Employment Support Services in Europe and the United States (July 1998): Japanese Link; Part I analyzes the employment situations of persons with disabilities and the current situation of employment support services in Europe and the United States. Part II presents abridged translations of an international comparative study published by York University in 1993, which summarizes employment policies for persons with disabilities in 15 countries.

No.27 Study on the Search System for Various Disabilities to Take Suitable Employment - No.2 - Analysis of the Result of Survey on Job Content and Trial Product for Job Description (July 1998): Japanese Link; Following No.13, this is the second interim report of a special research "Study on the Search System for Various Disabilities to take suitable employment". This is a volume that reports on the "Survey on job content" that was conducted in preparation for the database that forms the basis of the system, summarizing the result of the analysis. Using factor analysis and cluster analysis, "occupational classification was derived.

No.26 Study on the Problems on Various Vocational Adjustment of Autistic Individuals (July 1998): Japanese Link; The report summarizes the basic characteristics of autistic individuals and their current situations and problems, as well as reviewing vocational guidance and support at schools and sheltered workshops, vocational evaluation and vocational counseling for autistic individuals, toward planning of a vocational rehabilitation service.

No.25 Community-Based Employment Support System for Persons with Disabilities (March 1998): Japanese Link; As a first step of this study on "Community-Based Employment Support System" (Community-Based Rehabilitation), which is expected to form a base in the future, the report presents an analysis of current situations and issues derived from each related organization (local governments, employment-related organizations, companies, welfare-related organizations, health-related organizations, and labor unions).

No.24 Development of Comprehensive Work Support Technology for Expanding the Occupational Field for Persons with Severe Disabilities - No.5 - Development of an Office Wheelchair for Persons with Lower Limb Impairment (March 1998): Japanese Link; The report summarizes a prototype of an office wheelchair for persons with lower limb impairment, which was developed through a special research program "Study on the Development of Comprehensive Work Support Technology for Expanding the Occupational Field of Severely Disabled Persons".

No.23 Development of Comprehensive Work Support Technology for Expanding the Occupational Field for Persons with Severe Disabilities - No.4 - Development of Large-sized/Small-sized Specially Designed Keyboards for Persons with Upper Limb Impairment (January 1998): Japanese Link; Following No.16, the report summarizes the second prototype of specially designed keyboards for physically disabled persons and the third prototype (final) created, referencing the evaluation of a trial use of the second prototype.

No.22-2 Workbook on Human Relationships at a Worksite - For Supporting Individual Persons with Intellectual Disabilities - (March 1998): Japanese Link; The document is a summary of the research results of No.22. The workbook presents 19 subjects regarding human relationships at a worksite, using pictures and other means to make it easily understood by intellectually disabled persons. The contents of the "Workbook on Human Relationships at a Worksite" and the way to use it.

No.22-1 Questionnaire on Human Relationships at a Worksite and the User's Guide (For Supporting Individual Persons with Intellectual Disabilities) (March 1998): Japanese Link; The document reorganizes the research results of No.22 in a user-friendly manner for persons who support intellectually disabled persons. It gives a description of the "Questionnaire of Human Relationships at a Worksite", which aims to find key points of support concerning human relationships at a worksite, as well as explaining how to utilize it.

No.22 Study on the Development of an Evaluation Method for the Vocational Social Skills for Persons with intellectual disabilities (March 1998): Japanese Link; For the purpose of developing an evaluation method for human relationships at a worksite to promote employment of intellectually-disabled persons and their settling into a job, the study developed a questionnaire, an evaluation method and a workbook for the questionnaire as tangible tools, through interview survey with institutions concerned, preliminary tests, etc.

No.21 Occupational Issues of the Persons with Disabilities who have been Classified in the Category of "Others" in the Operational Statistics of the Local Vocational Centers (December 1997): Japanese Link; The report organizes the examples of how the Local Vocational Centers for Persons with Disabilities had dealt with persons who do not fit into any category of physically disabled persons, intellectually-disabled persons, and mentally disabled persons, but have vocational handicaps, as well as summarizing their vocational problems, consideration and support measures to promote their employment and settling into a job, and so on.
